Welcome to today's phonics lesson! In phonics, children first learn the sound each letter makes before learning to read words. Remember, we teach the sound, not just the letter name.
A–Z Letter Sounds
A a – /a/ as in apple 🍎
B b – /b/ as in ball ⚽
C c – /k/ as in cat 🐱
D d – /d/ as in dog 🐶
E e – /e/ as in egg 🥚
F f – /f/ as in fish 🐟
G g – /g/ as in goat 🐐
H h – /h/ as in hat 🎩
I i – /i/ as in insect 🐜
J j – /j/ as in jam 🍓
K k – /k/ as in kite 🪁
L l – /l/ as in lion 🦁
M m – /m/ as in moon 🌙
N n – /n/ as in nest 🪺
O o – /o/ as in orange 🍊
P p – /p/ as in pen ✏️
Q q – /kw/ as in queen 👑
R r – /r/ as in rabbit 🐰

Practice Time
Say each letter sound aloud three times.
