Consonant Sounds for Beginners

 



What are Consonant Sounds?

Consonant sounds are the sounds we make when the airflow from our mouth is partly or completely blocked by the lips, tongue, or teeth. There are 21 consonant letters in the English alphabet.

Consonant letters:
B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z

Tip: Teach the sound of each letter first before teaching its name.

Practice Activity

  1. Say the letter sound aloud.
  2. Repeat the sound three times.
